The Gallery app has pictures in it I don't want. When I follow the instructions from the manual and several posts online, there is NO Delete button. Some sites say they are "hidden" pictures in the Profile but I can find nothing about a Profile for the S3. I tried connecting to my PC to see if I could find and delete them but no luck there either.

Help!

Thanks.

Rocky Lane.

So you open Gallery.
You open the folder containing the pictures you want to delete (is this a syncd folder or a normal one? - as you don't have the ability to delete syncd folder, they are merely there for viewing purposes and editing).

Open the picture you want to delete and you should see the delete bin icon on the upper right of the picture. Press to delete.

How do you know which are syncd? Well in the album view it gives you an indication of which is which - you should see little icons on the bottom left corner of each album. Folder means its on your phone, SD disk picture means its on your phone on the external card. Facebook symbol means it is syncd from facebook and if you want to delete it you will have to go there. Same if it has the Picaso or any other symbol like that.

To do mulitple deletions - when in album - long press a photo to get multi-select option, pick the photos you want to delete, use the bin icon on the upper right.
Once again if it is a syncd folder - you need to go to the source to delete.

Thanks jaamgans.

A sales clerk in the cell phone booth in my grocery store today after fiddling for 20 minutes trying delete the pictures ... says they are synced. He pointed out the Google icon in the bottom left corner. Now I'll have to figure out how they got on my phone and then how to stop it from happening again and then how to delete the bloody things. I use Google on my desktop computer at home to do searches. I haven't a clue how to put pictures in Google. Facebook yes ... Google NO!

This happens to me now and again, especially when I reset my phone, you need to go into your Google account settings and turn off Sync Picasa web albums and/or Sync Google Photos then go into the Applications manager > All > Gallery and Clear cache and Clear data Don't worry, it will repopulate with just your pics that are on the device.

... then go into the Applications manager > All > Gallery and Clear cache and Clear data

I have a similar problem. I moved some picasaweb albums from an old gmail account, and suddenly they are all visible on my phone via Gallery and my phone storage is almost used up (though the SD card is unused, but that's a separate issue.) Problem is, when I go to the application manager, I can't follow the suggestion quoted above because Gallery is not visible. What to do? I want to delete most of my Picasaweb albums from my phone.

(later) Upon investigation, I discovered that I had made an incorrect assumption that Gallery was filling my storage. I found a single file I had transferred that for another reason was all by itself using most of my storage. I deleted it, and now my storage is mostly free. I am still interested in an answer to my question, but it's less urgent since apparently the phone copies of my albums are not really eating space.

1) Picasa apps - please read my and Ratty's posts above - give reasons why you can't delete Picasa albums and explains how to go about removing them.

2) To change where you save your pictures, open the camera app. When in the camera app, open the settings option, and scroll down settings until you get to storage. Change from phone to Memory card.
Be advised that in some modes (i.e. burst mode) the pictures will be saved to the phone and not the memory card, despite the storage setting. This is to ensure burst mode etc works - Samsung can't know what type of card you put into the phone, and thus only way to guarantee its a fast enough card that will not slow down burst mode with writing the pictures to the card, is to limit it to phone only memory which the user can't alter. (Would have preferred them to allow us to over ride it anyway with a warning.).

Sorry, I can't find out how to start a new topic (duh!) but I'm having the same problem. When I go the phone I inadvertently left it connected to my USB hub to charge and later switched the PC on. Picasa was then loaded to the PC and shoved lots of pictures onto the phone in 'albums' - but NOT related to the albums (files) of pictures on the computer - all muddled up - stupid. I just want to get rid as it's impossible to show the pictures to anyone in an ordered manner. I've read replies to earlier post but can't find "All" in Applications Manager and can't find the pictures files with ES File Explorer or anything. I'd like to put the files back but as they are on the computer - not just a jumble!

1) Have you checked your sync options (sync all has to be switched on to check your options) and make sure Picasa is not a ticked option.

2). When you go into System settings - choose application manager. Wait for the tab you are in to load up all the apps (you know its down when you can see all the icon pics). There are 3 tabs running across the top - downloaded - ?System? - All - you want the all option. Wait for it to load unless you were in it already. Scroll down the list of apps looking for gallery.
Follow the rest of Ratty's instructions.
