I keep getting the message on my phone, "Unfortunately the process Com.Google.process.gapps has stopped".  Anyone know what this is??  I can't figure it out.  Re-starting the phone didn't work.  It freezes up the screen, and the message comes up after a few moments.

Disable sync with Google contacts to see if it cures the error

What do you mean the particulars, dc?

And I could do that, Mark.  Really sucks tho.  I like that it syncs.  Arg.

Disabling it is just temporary to diagnose if it is that which is causing your issue.  If it is and a fix is found you can enable it again

Just a thought, did you backup and then reinstall any system apps, with something like Titanium Backup or similar?

No.  I think the only backup I have is through my google acct.  ....handy.  It might be backed up on Samsung too.  Not sure.

How did you transfer your contacts - if it was via blue tooth that might be the issue?

Nope.  Don't have bluetooth.  I just set it up to sync, and let it do it itself.  It's really frustrating me that it keeps happening.  Does anyone even know what it is?  Cause I don't.

You might be looking at a factory restore - have you got JB yet or are you still on ICS?

Still have ICS.  Another source of irritation.  Wish they'd hurry up here in the US!!

Part of the JB update is that it will wipe your phone (like a factory restore does) - if you know when you will get it, it might be worth waiting for rather than having your phone wiped twice within a couple of weeks.

That's true.  Although they just keep stringing us alone.  I've heard several /tentative/ dates.  But nothing comes of them.

Not when mine was updated.   No reset or wipe occurred with the update
