As long as it's full charged, you are okay to use it.  don't over charge it.

I always charge mine overnight, and it's fine.

We've discussed this on another topic. The majority of us do overnight charging with all of our phones & have no issues.

The instructions I got was to charge mine for "at least 14 hours" Although after around 3 or 4 it went to a green light. It has been on for 6 hours now

I used mine right out of the box, and charged it my normal way, over night, that first night.

I've had two S3's (needed a replacement handset). The first one I used straight out of the box, turned it on and used it for a few mins and then plugged it in and continued using it.

The next one I received I plugged in straight away and didn't turn on the phone until the green "fully charged" light was showing.

If anything, the first one had a better battery life than the second (in fact I've posted on this forum about my second phone not having as good a battery life as the first). Certainly I don't think it makes a difference how long your initial charge is!
