Been using Chrome on my desktop, installed it on S3. Brought up "desktop" version of gmail (so I can modify filters & other settings). For the life of me, I can't save that bookmark in the Mobile Bookmarks (or anyplace else).  Can someone tell me how to save a bookmark so I can get back to it?

Thanks.

I don't use Chrome but do have it installed, I just loaded this forum on it, tapped the menu key the tapped the star (top right of the menu) and that brought up the add bookmark screen.

CaptNorm.

You have two options:
1) don't sync bookmarks and then book marks work pretty much how Ratty says. Menu - press the star (if greyed out it already means it is book marked) and you will then be given the option to save the bookmark to the mobile.
2) Sync between the two. This means that if you have a bookmark on your desktop you can't save it to the mobile phone as it is already been bookmarked. currently if you aren't syncing you don't have access to the synced bookmarks - worth remembering. So you can get around the bookmarks being in two places - load the bookmark from synced place. Switch off auto-sync then save bookmark to mobile phone.

if you want to go via method 2 with syncing you need to do the following.

On your desktop when in the chrome browser, click on the spanner (upper right corner), then settings. You need to make sure you are logged into your browser. The top row will show whether you are, if not sign in. Click on Advanced Sync Settings and make sure bookmarks are synced.

Then go to phone, open Chrome, menu, settings. under basics it should show you signed in - if not sign in with same account as per your desktop Chrome. If you have used another account, click on it which will allow you to disconnect, then you can reconnect using correct one.

Then go to home screen, menu, settings, accounts and sync and make sure autosync is on. Go to the same account and touch on it to enter settings - which will provide a list of everthing that is syncing under that account name. One of the sync options should be Chrome. If it isn't arleady ticked, tick it. This should then allow syncing.

Now go back to Chrome. When pressing bookmarks you should now get the desktop option along with the mobile option. Click on desktop to go in and use those bookmarks. Don't forget the desktop bookmarks will only be available as long as the AUTOSYNC IS ON (don't forget the notification bar has this as the final switch option - don't know why it is at the end but it is).

Ratty,

That actually worked. Weird, I did not see gold star for bookmarks before, or I would not have asked. I saw it and save the bookmark in mobile bookmarks. I noticed that I was not syncing bookmarks, think that may be why I could save it. Think I'm now syncing, and trying to save a new bookmark does not show the gold star.

Jaamgans,

Thanks for the detailed reply. I do sync bookmarks between a few computers running chrome. I recently installed chrome on the S3 and was pleasantly surprised to see my desktop favorites on the s3. I went thru all your suggestions for option 2 as I want to keep bookmarks synced.

Where you say "One of the sync options should be Chrome. If it isn't arleady ticked", chrome doesn't show up at all (just Tango, my email addr with google, think gmail and my dropbox account) and shows as being ON. If I go to "add account", chrome isn't listed. Since I have my desktop chrome bookmarks, I think it is synced, so am confused.

Weird, I was able to add the bookmark by Ratty's steps, but the gold star doesn't show up anymore.

@ CaptNorm - it will not show up in accounts and syn as an option for synced items in your gmail account unless you are logged into chrome. Have you logged into Chrome?

With Chrome open and on a black page. Menu - Settings. If you are signed in it shows right at the top with your gmail address that you are signed into. Otherwise you will have a sign in to Chrome button at the bottom.

If signed in check these.
Press email.
Sync options come up - make sure that the bottom two are ticked.
Back out to empty page. Press home button.
Go to Accounts and Sync and check to see  if Chrome has been added. You will need to switch on auto sync to put a tick against Chrome for future use.

If not signed in, press Sign In To Chrome. Select the gmail account you want to use and press sign in. Email should now appear at top of settings page.
Press email.
Sync options come up - make sure that the bottom two are ticked.
Back out to empty page. Press home button.
Go to Accounts and Sync and check to see  if Chrome has been added. You will need to switch on auto sync to put a tick against Chrome for future use.
