Im having an issue with people hearing me when I call them. It sounds as if Im far off or muffled even though I am holding the handset normally without covering the mouthpeice.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue and is it a fault with the phone or can I do something to make my calls higher quality?

The Mic is at the bottom of the device near the USB port, do you have a case on and it is blocking it?

Several people I talked to over the phone this weekend said the same thing to me ! According to their definition : "The first few second of the call, my voice is heard as if I am talking via the hands-free and located at the other end of the room, my voice is coming too deep and muffled".

I guess this is not a hardware issue...

Any similar complaints ?

As above have you or are you inadvertently covering the mic? it's situated next to the USB charging slot (a tiny hole)

If the mic is clear of obstruction then it might be an idea to contact your supplier.

Hi Ratty. The mic is clear and I even tested it with the voice recorder and it records perfectly. It almost is as though i sound like I am talking over a web phone - my phone gives off a streaming type effect. Could be a network issue but I have yet to see how that could be possible.

This seems to be a common issue on SIII devices, as I heard. Mine is having the same problem too, and I think that the previous (Stock) ROM update overcome this issue a bit, as lesser of my friends are not complaining of not hearing me, but I am not sure if it is OK or not. Samsung must know this issue too, and I hope that they are working on this issue too?

As far as I'm aware I don't have this issue, no one has complained about the call quality to me anyway. I am using the latest Samsung release for my region though. It could be a Radio/Modem software issue, I would contact your suppliers and/or Samsung to see if it is a recognised problem.

Problem solved!
I read on another thread that it is a software issue and it sorts itself out when you reset the device.
My voice calls are now perfectly clear!
Backup your phone first using Kies or another option and then  go to 'settings' then to 'back up and reset'  Reset it to factory settings.
I am not sure if there is a way to save your apps and home screen settings because Kies didn't restore these and I had to download all the apps again.  Need to work that one out still!
