Hi Guys,

I was wondering if Samsung's warranty will still cover or apply if I got my s3 wet accidentally? It's still turning on and everything but my touch screen is no longer responsive.  Is there a way to fix this? I'm very sad and upset right now. I really love this phone and I've owned the it for just a month. I'm in the Philippines by the way.

Please any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

No, water damage is not covered under warranty, an insurance policy covering accidental damage would help here, if you have one.

It might be repairable. but you would need to dry it out completely first.

I would let a reputable dealer or repair shop have a look at it and quote you a price. I fear that it's not going to be cheap though.

Thanks for the quick reply. Wow this is really depressing, hopefully samsung will fix it, even if have to pay them. I really don't trust 3rd party repair shops here. Thanks again!

Put it in a bag of uncooked rice for a few days.. that will suck out all the water and try again...

It's worth a try, I have heard that it has worked on other devices but I doubt it in this case, it would need to have been put straight in the rice and not turned on but the OP has powered on the phone, possibly and most probably causing a short-circuit within the electronics.

But definitely worth trying, nothing to lose.

Hi Guys!

Yeah I was a moron for turning it on after I dried the outside of my phone. I didn't it expect it would penetrate the insides of my phone since it was dipped for a little under 5 seconds. The water was not even that deep. Anyway I tried the uncooked rice thing and what do you know it worked!! Happy My touch screen is now working, but sometimes it's a little glitchy. The notification menu keeps sliding down by itself which is a little annoying. Sometimes the touch screen stops working for a second and I just press the home button and it's working again. Any tips and advice what I should do? I returned it on the uncooked rice again. Happy Hoping it will fix itself. LOL! I feel a little better since it's kind of working now. Thanks to everyone again!

Guys!

I don't know but it feels like a miracle that my S3 is completely fine. It's now working at 100% (fingers crossed). I think it made the screen stuck or I can't use the touch screen because there was a very tine drop of water between my screen guard(isheild) and my phone. I just gently pushed the water out of the screen guard and it's now working great. Really hope this will continue and I hope nothing is damage inside my phone. S3 is indeed a tough phone if this will continue working!

Thanks again to everyone!

Hi Guys,

Well it turned it out the my main board for my s3 is shorted. Crying I already brought it to Samsung repair center and they had to change my board and the touch panel screen maybe damage as well. Crying It will cost me quite a bit but I have no choice. Crying The tech repair guy told me that my s3 will come out as brand new. Thanks to everyone again!

I'm sorry to hear that  Sad

I did think you was very lucky to have got away with it, when you get it back please keep it away from water, if you're prone to accidental mishaps then maybe it would be an idea to take out an insurance policy on it.

Yeah, It was a freak accident really. Me and my wife we're having lunch in a restaurant and she borrowed my phone. By the time she was going to hand it back I was not looking at her because I'm busy watching a basketball game in the TV. Then boom, it slipped my hand and dropped directly straight in a bowl of soup. LOL

Also, I don't think we have an insurance policy for phones here in the Philippines, but I'll find out. I'm also looking for a shock proof/water resistant casing for the S3. Let me know if you guys have recommendations for the casing.

THANKS!
