Not sure exactly what you mean - do you mean during a call the screen turns off when you try to press something on screen?

Make sure you're not covering the front-facing camera. This acts as a sensor to turn the screen off when covered - it assumes you've got the phone up to your face so turns off the screen to preserve battery. As long as you're not covering that your screen should stay on..

Yes you assume correctly my hands not covering the screen, you know those calls where you have to key in numbers? Well sometimes you press a number and the screen fades to black

To keep mine from timing out, I just make sure to slide my finger across it now and then.  It is annoying when it happens.  But that usually works to stop it.

It's not a usual problem Steve, most of my calls are to automated systems so use that function multiple times daily, I've never had an issue.

Sound like a legit phone issue. Does it happen every time or just occasionally?

I'd take it back to where you bought it or a certified repairer, show them what happens, see what they think..

Sounds as though your proximity sensor is being triggered by your hand/fingers, turn it off and give it a try or when in-call and inputting numbers, put it on speakerphone .

I had the same problem. I think I was covering something with my hand. I found that if I sneak up on the keypad from the bottom of the phone, it works fine!  Happy

Open your dialler, tap Menu > Call settings and untick Auto screen off during calls

Note: This will leave your screen active during calls and could activate apps etc while the phone is to your ear.
