 Angry

my screen is starting to never time out.  I've turned the front camera feature off that leaves the screen on when it detects you're looking at it and that didn't fix it, I have to pull the battery.  The only other thing I can think of is that I just put a screen protector on it (not a zagg) but the way that it's cut and fitted, it's not hovering over the sensor at all.  Anyone else having the same problem?

Nope mines fine & has a screen protector also.

Check in display settings, what does it say your screen time out in seconds is?

when you say it doesn't time out do you mean it won't turn screen off even when u press the lock button? I'm assuming so seeing as u said u have to take the battery out..

run the following simple test:
go to your phone dialler. dial *#0*#
that'll take you to the tester settings. press the button that says sleep. this should turn off ur screen and lock the phone (essentially what should be happening when it time-outs).. if it doesn't do this, there's a fault with the handset - take it to a repairer, or where u bought it.

Also, have you recently installed any new apps before you had this problem?

Some apps have permission to control your phone's sleep state, so it could be malfunctioning and causing your phone to never sleep.

I'd try uninstalling any new apps and see if that solves the issue!

mine times out in 30 seconds.. and it will turn off if I lock the screen.  Once I pull the battery it will time out after 30 like it's supposed to.  I noticed it one day when I didn't lock the screen like I usually do and I put it face down (so I could stare at my new case I made on casemate.com  Sticking out tongue ) and about 15 mins later I picked it up and the screen was still on, so I tried waiting the 30 seconds without looking at it and it didn't turn off.. I turned the front camera detection off and it still didn't turn off.  No new apps either.  I also did the *#0*# and the sleep function worked but maybe it's because I just pulled the battery.  Will check back with that setting when it starts acting up again Happy

Hi there.... I'm facing the same problem.... I think it's a bug.... i keep my screen timeout at 30sec.... whenever I'm sensing its not working I go and check display settings to find that has automatically changed to 2min (with even Smart Stay off).... I need to change this option about thrice per day on average...

the best way however is to practice locking the device after usage....
