Hello everyone,

Does anyone know how to turn off the data on the S3?  I usually keep it turned off while travelling to avoid getting charged for roaming.

Yes. Bring down the notification bar, scroll the very top icons until you find the data icon & tap it to turn off.

The icons I see at the top are: Wi-Fi, GPS, Sound, Screen rotation, Power Saving, Notification, Bluetooth, Driving mode and Sync...but no data icon?  Sad

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know how to turn off the data on the S3?  I usually keep it turned off while travelling to avoid getting charged for roaming.

I have the same problem it logically would be on the "notification bar" with its cousins but it isn't.
I have found it though:  Settings > Data usage> Mobile data ( 0=off |=on)

You can make a desktop item to manage data:
Long press on the desktop>  Add to Home screen > Apps >Widgets >(long press)Settings shortcuts 1x1 > Data usage.

You can then turn it on and off by clicking data usage.

FYI i have the SGH T999V from Mobilicity

Thanks for the tip Adrian, it confuses me why some carriers remove these type of controls but I'm sure your tip will help others that find themselves searching for a solution.

The carriers want you to use the data as it brings in revenue so any way to make it more difficult to disable it is going to benefit them Happy

Yeah, I can see your/their point, but in these days of financial worries you would think they would help not hinder the public to stay out of debt. But, when has any mobile Co. worried about those trivial things lol
