I searched the net for a time but no luck, for some reason no sound comes through my earphone speakers. I tried my own first, they didn't work and thought they must only work with the ones that came in the box. But no luck.

The plastic coating of the earphone jack presses against the plastic of the phone on one side but not the other. So I took the back cover off to see if it would move further in. It didn't.

Any advice, is there a setting I'm missing or could this be a fault?

Thanks.

I'm having somewhat of a similar issue. My headphones are not always recognized. Some of the issues I have are, when I get any kind of notification and i'm playing music, the music stops playing, and then when I click play to start again, the music plays through the speaker instead of the headphones. I have to unplug them and back in again for them to work. Also, after every song, the music player stops. I have to hit play to go to the next song.

I don't know for sure if this is a headphone, headphone jack, or a phone issue.

Mine works fine.

Obviously try testing it by trying another pair of headphones w/ jack to see if the problem lies with the headphones. I'd also try bluetooth headphones. If bluetooth works but the headphones doesn't then most likely it is the jack. if both don't work, I'd try reinstalling the firmware.

If all else fails, hopefully you have store warranty and can exchange for another unit.

i just faced the same problem today as I always plug in and out everyday as I listen to my music through speakers.

was so worried because i just bought the phone, and used only 1 month.
would not prefer to send into Samsung service center (Indonesia) as I heard they will take like 3 months to replace or repair the unit.

but just 15 mins ago, i tried resetting the phone, and CHEERS!
music starts coming out from my speakers again (through S3)!!!!

hope this works for you and those who have problems connecting to S3 audio jack. Wink Wink

Hi. I purchased 2 phones (one for my wife) and one of them works perfectly and the other (White) not. When you insert the headphone jack, the sound is transferred, but the is sound and poweful vibrations in the phone itself.

I have tried with 4 diffrent plugs, taken the cover off to see if I could insert jack further, etc. nothing works.

It is not delivered for service. Obvously there is a problem. The pebbel blue is ever so slightly different in the mechanics.

I came here because I was seeing the same problem.  Freaked out at first thinking my expensive noise canceling phones were broken... but same thing happened with multiple sets of earbuds:  if I turned the jack, I might get one ear, then both, then no audio.

I tried resetting my phone, with no help... but in the process I unplugged my headset. The next time I plugged it in, there was a audible CLICK, and the headphones were working fine.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION:
It appears that the jack on the s3 needs a little extra pressure to insert your headphones fully... each time I get a nice solid CLICK. See if that works for you.

there you go when in doubt, stick it all the way in!

That should be the universal way of fixing things.  Big Grin

Exactly how far does the headphone jack go into the socket?

Mine "click" in and stop going any further when there's still about 3mm of headphone plug still exposed. I tried pushing it in really quite hard and daren't try harder in case I break something! I've tried both the S3-supplied headphones and some other ones with the same result; in the current position the supplied phones crackle with any slight movement of the jack as they don't make a good connection. My other headphones don't seem to crackle; I guess the plug on them might be that bit fatter. I also tried the S3 headphones in my old Galaxy S and they press in flush and work fine with no crackles, so the headphones themselves are ok.

My big question is should it be flush at the non-curved side of the jack i.e. no exposed jack? Or is it about 3mm proud at the closest point?

If anyone has a photo showing it that might help me! Need to know if it's a duff socket or whether I'm just being lame...

Cheers,

Mark

Well sorry but i cant get a photo of my s3,  for that I'd need to use my s3 lol.

However,  it is pretty much flush. It does take a fair amount of pressure to get the jack in situ correctly
