This is driving me mad, in the green phone icon after a missed call  a small red circle with the nuneral one in the centre appears, I have tried everything to clear this,  apps manager, force stop and clear data to almost throwing the phone against the brick wall,  I have read on the net that this is a common problem and will happen at some stage to every sg3, any help wpould be appreciated grrrrrrrrrrrr

Something to try....Settings - Application manager - All - BadgeProvider, Clear data and restart phone.

Please reply if successful.

Pity  Sad looks like a backup and reset may be the next option, before that though, you could try clearing all the RAM and possibly checking your firmware and see if an update is available to cure your ills.

Good luck and report back if you find a fix.

Tried all that,  I will spend a little more time searching the web and I guess if nothing is found reset time, once again thanks for your assistance.

As you haven't said exactly what you have tried, have you tried pressing the icon, going to the call list, and then actually pressing on the missed call in the call list?

Hi,
This is a software issue, the missed call can not be removed, what you suggested is a basic function of which I did at the start.

Worth checking, you will be amazed at how often the simple basic stuff is often ignored.
Bearing that in mind, have you tried the following basic options:

Delete the missed call from the logs?
In the phone app, under the Logs tab, menu - Delete - tick the missed call.
if you haven't it might be worth a try?

Have you also tried removing the icon from the home screen and re-installing it?

Hi mate,
I also tried that at the very start but no luck, thanks for the tip anyway. You mentioned deleting the phone icon from the home screen this is where I think the problem may be.
After the phone updated I was no longer able to move around the bottom five icons on the home screen, when now you press and hold any icon above these five the message appears , (use the menu edit function) and when I do this the five main icons are replaced with the following folders, create folder, create page, app info, Delete, and when Im finished the main five icons are back, I can not even swap them around not sure what happened with the update but not happy.
Thanks

I think that is a change they made to the touchwiz launcher in jellybean i.e. Samsung fault not Android, am sure I read it somewhere.

An alternative would be to try an alternative launcher - you might prefer it to touchwiz anyway.
I use Go Launcher and find it one of the best. I believe ADW has just been updated for ICS and jelly bean so you might want to look at that one too.
