I have tried with the stock browser and Firefox Beta to save a URL to my home page and can not get it to work.

If you hold the addy for a few seconds the option to save to home page comes up but when I press the save to home page option nothing happens.

Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

With the stock browser you can press Menu and choose Add shortcut to home screen.

Have you tried going from the other side.

long press on home screen, choose widgets, bookmarks and select the bookmark you want.

I have no issues doing it from either way.

However I am using the alternative launcher: Go Launcher and I am using Chrome as my browser.

I could not get it to work so took it to the store that I bought it from. The techie there also could not get it to work and volunteered to exchange the phone for me.

I figured out a work around and really did not feel like reconfiguring my phone so declined the offer.

Thanks for the replies and hints....

Could you perhaps provide your solution in case this is particular to the changes your operator has made  to the standard ROM as this doesn't seem to be an issue in the UK. By providing this detail it could resolve the same issue for anyone else who might be in the same boat as you.

I have noticed that the Canadian operators seem to heavily modify the standard roms a lot more than the UK operators and it doesn't always seem to be for the better.

If I open FireFox it shows all of the pages I have been to. I just click on the page I want and go to it.

I am used to using my Android tablets and it is easy to save the page to the Home screen. Maybe the phone just works different, but I am learning.
