(if you don't care about how did I find this out, scroll down to SOLUTION)
I just had to register and tell you guys what helped me resolve the "android.phone proccess has stopped".
First of, let me clarify my phone is in spanish (like my country and my mother tongue
), so I am not that sure I translated the error messagge correctly.
I started by googling the same error in spanish and found a solution in which I had not much faith (but worked like a charm). Since I was not satisfied with the solution as it seemed "too easy"; I google it again in english. It seemed like the proposed solutions I came up now with were even more difficult to accomplish
Anyways, let me share with you guys the "google español" solution, which worked great.
The first thing that brought my attention was that several people who had issues with this android process, also seemed to have issues with their contacts. Either their contacts had too many emails, phone numbers and overall info, or they had too many linked accounts. Also, I found a guy who was scrolling and updating contacts when he received a phone call and boom, android.process crap. This was exactly what happened to me so maybe it's the same case as yours.
Download and install Samsung Kies
Plug your phone via USB to your PC.
Backup your contacts (JUST your contacts)
Once you are absolutely sure you have a backup of all your contacts, safely unplug your Samsung Galaxy S3 from the computer.
Grab your phone and go to contacts. Hit the "option" key (the one left to the home key)
Select all contacts and then de-select yourself from it (you should be at the top as "phone owner" or something like that)
Go ahead and DELETE them.
Plug your phone to the computer again, open Kies again, go to the "backup and restore" tab.
Choose the file you in which you saved your contacts and restore them.
Once you safely unplug it from the PC, you will have your contacts back in your phone and it won't freeze when trying to call them or when you receive a call from them.
I hope this helps you as much as it helped me!
